Niewielki szwajcarski producent elektrycznych samochodów ma wielkie plany. Ściąga więc menedżerów wcześniej związanych z Porsche, BMW i Teslą

Piëch Automotive jeszcze nie sprzedaje samochodów, ale nie narzeka też na brak rozgłosu. Do tej pory uwagę przyciągał głównie Toni Piëch, jeden z założycieli firmy, ale co istotniejsze — potomek słynnego konstruktora Ferdinanda Porsche. Zaglądając w drzewo genealogiczne rodziny, widzimy, że Toni jest jednym z 13 dzieci Ferdinanda Piëcha, zmarłego przed rokiem wieloletniego szefa grupy Volkswagen, a poza tym, od strony matki, wnuka Porsche. Anton „Toni” Piëch, rocznik 1978, skończył prestiżowy Uniwersytet Princeton, założył inkubator przedsiębiorczości w Pekinie, gdzie pracował przez 12 lat, a w końcu wspólnie z projektantem Reą Starkiem Rajcicem na własnych warunkach wskoczył do biznesu, który ma we krwi.

Auta niemieckiej marki są dostępne w Polsce w miesięcznym abonamencie. Możliwość wynajęcia za pomocą smartfona to prawdziwa rzadkość. I to na skalę światową.

Za pośrednictwem internetowej platformy Carsmile (start-upu, którego większościowy pakiet przejęła niedawno OLX Group) można wynająć porsche. To niby nic dziwnego, ale oferta abonamentowego wynajmu aut tej marki zdarza się rzadko. Innowacją na skalę światową jest możliwość załatwienia wszystkich formalności kilkoma kliknięciami na ekranie smartfona. W USA Porsche ma program subskrypcji, ale on bardziej przypomina carsharing, tzn. użytkownik może sobie wymieniać samochody w ramach abonamentu. W Europie abonament na porsche wprowadził niemiecki start-up Cluno. Polska platforma Carsmile poszła krok dalej – umożliwiła subskrypcję przez internet.

Porsche ma paliwo do silników spalinowych neutralne dla klimatu

Porsche opracowało neutralne dla klimatu syntetyczne paliwo, które może być stosowane w silnikach spalinowych bez konieczności przeróbek, informuje The Telegraph.

Celem jest udostępnienie syntetycznego „odnawialnego” paliwa, odpowiedniego dla obecnie produkowanych silników spalinowych, kosztującego mniej więcej tyle samo ile tradycyjne, powiedział Michael Steiner, szef działu badawczo-rozwojowego Porsche.

Porsche to participate in fundraising of electric supercar maker Rimac: Automobilwoche

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p) unit Porsche is participating in a financing round of Rimac Automobili that will see the electric supercar maker raise 130 million-150 million € ($157 million-$181 million), its owner Mate Rimac told weekly Automobilwoche.

The fundraising should be completed in two to three months and another round is planned at the end of the year, Rimac told the trade journal.

Porsche owns a 15.5% stake in Rimac Automobili and could raise its stake to just below 50% in a deal that would also include the transfer of Volkswagen's supercar brand Bugatti to Rimac, Automobilwoche said.

Volkswagen and Rimac were not immediately available for comment on Sunday.

Porsche Chief Executive Oliver Blume said earlier this month that intense discussions on Bugatti's future were ongoing and that Rimac could play a role as the brands were a good technological fit, adding that a decision was expected in the first half of 2021.

Rimac has developed an electric supercar platform, which it supplies to other carmakers, including Automobili Pininfarina.

"Supercars have a limited market, the market for components is much bigger. That is why we are planning to expand our company," Rimac told Automobilwoche.

That includes plans to more than double Rimac Automobili's workforce by early 2023 to 2,500 from 1,000 currently, he said.

WEISSACH, Germany (Reuters) - Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p) will soon decide on the future of its luxury brand Bugatti, Oliver Blume, Volkswagen management board member and CEO of Porsche AG, said on Monday.

Porsche AG sees 'huge' demand for all-electric Taycan - CEO

MUNICH (Reuters) - Luxury sports car maker Porsche AG is attracting huge demand for its Taycan model, causing wait times for the all-electric coupe to stretch to six months, CEO Oliver Blume said on Monday.

"Our original production capacity for the Taycan was 20,000 units this year - we've sold that many in the first half of the year," Blume told a panel discussion at the IAA (NYSE:IAA) Mobility show in Munich.

"Incoming orders are huge - they are good in China too," said Blume, adding that the Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p) group unit was, like other carmakers, battling chip shortages and had more incoming orders than it could meet.

Normal waiting times for a new vehicle were four months but they have now stretched to half a year, he said.

BERLIN (Reuters) - Porsche SE said on Tuesday its nine-month net income bounced to the lower end of the German automotive group's full-year guidance thanks to profits from Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p), which recovered after a pandemic-related slump last year.

The holding company controlled by the Porsche and Piech families, which holds a 53.3% stake in Germany's largest automaker, said its nine-month result after taxes came in at 3.3 billion euro ($3.81 billion).

This exceeds Porsche's result for the same period last year by almost seven times and comes close to the net profit range of 3.4-4.9 billion euro the group confirmed it expects to reach in 2021.

LUDWIGSBURG (Reuters) - Porsche AG, part of the Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p) Group, profits from being part of Volkswagen, its CEO Oliver Blume said on Wednesday, following speculation that an IPO of the luxury unit could be on the cards.

"We feel very comfortable in the Volkswagen Group, we can profit from synergies. The important thing in this time is to focus on transformation," Blume said, speaking at a car industry conference organised by autos publication Automobilwoche in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

Germany's Manager Magazin reported in October that investment bank Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) and law firm Freshfields were among advisors working on a possible listing of the unit.

Volkswagen's CEO Herbert Diess said on Oct. 28 the company was constantly reviewing its portfolio but provided no further comment.

Volkswagen Considers Porsche IPO to Fund EV Transition

Volkswagen shares were up 3% in Wednesday morning trading.
Volkswagen is considering listing its Porsche luxury-car unit to help fund its ambitious plan to switch to electric vehicles, according to several media reports.

Porsche AG, the maker of the eponymous cars of the same name, could have a market capitalization of between €45 billion and €90 billion ($101 billion), according to Reuters and other news outlets.

The Piech and Porsche families who own 31.4% of Volkswagen (ticker: XE:VOW) and 53.3% of its voting rights through their holding company Porsche SE, would sell part of their stake in Volkswagen to fund a direct shareholding of the luxury-car maker, the daily Handelsblatt reported.

The families could raise up to €15 billion in the process, for use toward potential holdings in a listed Porsche, the German business newspaper added. They would remain Volkswagen’s largest shareholder, ahead of the state of Lower Saxony, which owns a 11.8% stake and 20% voting rights in the company.

A representative for Volkswagen said in an email that the group “is constantly reviewing options that serve to further develop and implement the Group’s strategy and raise the value of the company,” but that it wouldn’t “comment on the details.” Porsche didn’t immediately reply to an emailed request for comment.

Volkswagen, the world’s number-two automobile company, launched an ambitious plan in March to become the global leader in electric vehicles. But CEO Herbert Diess has struggled since then, as supply-chain bottlenecks and difficulties on the Chinese market have clouded the group’s prospects.

Volkswagen shares were up 3% in Wednesday morning trading. But the stock is down nearly 20% since the highs it reached in March after the announcement of its EV strategy.
