Przychody sieci hoteli spadły w drugim kwartale o 77,3 proc. rok do roku i wyniosły 564 mln USD. Strata netto w drugim kwartale to 432 mln USD.

Spadki Hiltona wynikały z pandemii COVID-19 i związanego z nią ograniczenia globalnych podróży i turystyki, które wymagały całkowitego lub częściowego zawieszenia działalności hoteli. Na dzień 31 lipca otwartych było już 96 proc. hoteli wchodzących w skład sieci.

Ostatnie wieści dotyczące wynalezienia szczepionki przeciwko Covid-19 doprowadziły do skoku notowań firm z m.in. branży lotniczej, turystycznej czy energetycznej. Na fali tych zwyżek znalazł się również operator hoteli Hilton, którego cena akcji w listopadzie podskoczyła o 18 proc.

Choć przychody za III kw. w porównaniu z ubiegłym rokiem spadły o 46 proc., do 241 mln USD, a strata netto po dziewięciu miesiącach urosła do niemal 0,5 mld USD, to tegoroczny kurs spółki spada „zaledwie" o 7,5 proc.

Sieć hoteli ujawniła w piątek w oświadczeniu, że dyrektor generalny Christopher Nassetta zarobił w 2020 roku łącznie 55,87 mln USD. Rok wcześniej jego całkowite wynagrodzenie wyniosło 21,37 mln USD.

Hilton to Open Luxury Hotel in Osaka in 2025

Osaka, Nov. 24 (Jiji Press)--Major U.S. hotel operator Hilton said Wednesday that it will open a luxury hotel in Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, in 2025.
The hotel, under Hilton's Waldorf Astoria premier luxury brand, will be located in front of West Japan Railway Co.'s <9021> Osaka Station. It will be the first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Japan.

Barclays cut Hyatt Hotels (NYSE:H) to Equal-Weight from Overweight, cutting the firm's price target on the stock to $125 from $130, and upgraded Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc (NYSE:HLT) to Overweight from Equal Weight, raising the price target to $168 from $151 in a note to clients Thursday.

Analysts told investors in a note that Hyatt shares have "meaningfully outperformed YTD" on outsized operating leverage and over-indexed exposure to leisure, group, and China.

"Impressive share outperformance has rendered relative valuation no longer attractive and somewhat full on an absolute basis," the analysts wrote about Hyatt. "Key overexposures like U.S. group business and China are now mostly priced in, in our view."

They added that Hyatt's ALG business, which was the primary driver of upside vs. consensus over the last four quarters, is "facing tough comparisons," and so growth is "likely to decelerate meaningfully."

The analysts consider Hilton to be "the best-in-class franchise growth business."

"We think HLT's outstanding net unit growth (NUG) will become more dear to investors," the analysts wrote. "NUG should reaccelerate faster than peers, based on pipeline chain-scale positioning and a material boost from layering in early success with its recently launched Spark conversion brand."

"Relative valuation, which we see as a <0.5x EV/EBITDA premium to MAR, under-appreciates sustainable higher unit growth, in our view. To be clear, HLT's absolute valuation appears full as well, so for us this is more of a relative long preference."

(Reuters) - Hilton Worldwide Holdings (NYSE:HLT) beat Wall Street estimates for second-quarter revenue on Wednesday, as record lodging prices and rebounding corporate and summer travel demand boosted results.

Hotel companies have seen demand plateau in the United States after benefiting in recent quarters from elevated domestic bookings as consumers used remote work as an excuse to travel. But with international travel rising, Hilton is facing increased competition as it has a smaller footprint abroad compared with its competitors.

Shares of the company were flat in premarket trading. The stock has gained 19% so far this year.

The company's revenue per available room, or RevPAR, an important metric in the hospitality industry, rose 12% in the quarter from a year earlier.

"System-wide comparable RevPAR continued to expand throughout the quarter, experiencing growth across all of our customer segments and regions, driven by strong preference for our brands," CEO Christopher Nassetta said.

Second-quarter revenue rose to $2.66 billion, exceeding the average Wall Street estimate of $2.57 billion, according to Refinitiv.

Average daily hotel rates were up about 18% in the second quarter from the same period in 2019, before the pandemic, according to analytics firm CoStar.

U.S. hotel demand has been below pre-pandemic levels for four consecutive months, falling 2% in June year-over-year. Hilton's business is more exposed to the United States and North America when compared to competitor Marriott.

The company lifted its annual outlook again after boosting its annual profit outlook in the first quarter. It now expects full-year adjusted profit between $5.93 and $6.06 per share, compared with its prior forecast of $5.68 to $5.88 per share.
