Investing.com -- Logitech International (NASDAQ:LOGI) stock fell 5% Tuesday after it reported earnings, revealing a drop in sales year-over-year.

The Swiss computer peripherals and software manufacturer reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.81 on revenue of $1.23 billion. Earnings beat expectations while revenue was in line, with analysts polled by Investing.com expecting earnings per share of $0.71 on revenue of $1.23 billion.

The company's sales were down 20% compared to Q4 of the prior year.

Even so, the company's full-year fiscal 2022 sales were its highest ever at $5.48 billion.

“This year, we sustained our scale, delivering record sales on top of last year’s 74% sales growth,” said Bracken Darrell, Logitech president, and chief executive officer. “We grew for the ninth straight year and grew market share across the portfolio. We also beat our original profit target by over $100 million."

Logitech reduced its fiscal 2023 outlook as it removed sales and profit estimates that would have been generated in Ukraine and Russia.

It sees sales growth between 2% and 4%. Previously, sales growth was expected to be in the mid-single digits.

"Despite strong year-over-year results, our focus is the long term. We’re riding secular growth trends in hybrid work, video collaboration, esports and digital content creation,” added Darrell.

(Reuters) - Logitech (NASDAQ:LOGI) International reported a 38% fall in first-quarter adjusted profit and cut its full-year 2023 outlook on Tuesday, as the maker of web-cams, speakers and computer mice struggled to match tough comparisons from a year earlier.

The Swiss-American company reported sales of $1.16 billion for the three-month period ended June, down 9% on a constant-currency basis. Non GAAP operating income fell 38% to $146 million.

Last year, the company's sales rose 66% and operating income doubled as demand for computers and peripherals boomed during the COVID-19 lockdowns as stay-at-home people shifted to hybrid working.

The company approved on Tuesday an increased share buyback authorization up to $1.5 billion from the current $1 billion.

"This quarter, we demonstrated our operational focus in the face of challenging conditions, and off the back of exceptional growth these past two years," Chief Executive Officer Bracken Darrell said in a statement.

The company also reduced its full-year outlook to between 8% and 4% sales decline in constant currency, and between $650 million and $750 million in non-GAAP operating income, citing challenging conditions.

It had previously forecast annual sales growth of 2% to 4% on a constant-currency basis, and non-GAAP operating income of $875 million to $925 million.

Logitech has been benefiting from the pandemic as staff working from home upgraded their keyboards, mice and video conferencing equipment. Companies have also been upgrading their equipment as people return to the office.

The company earlier this year cut its full-year outlook, citing loss of sales in Ukraine and Russia after it halted its activities in both the countries.

The maker of keyboards, mice and headsets posted a 12% decline in sales at $1.15 billion in the three months ended Sept. 30. In constant currencies, which removes the impact of exchange rate swings, sales was down 7%.

Logitech (NASDAQ:LOGI) also said its chief financial officer, Nate Olmstead, will be leaving the company. Olmstead will stay on in his role as Logitech launches a search for his successor.

Non-GAAP operating income plunged 26% to $156 million in the period, the second quarter of Logitech's financial year.

The Swiss-American company is facing a slowdown from last year, when COVID-19 restrictions drove it to its highest ever second-quarter sales on the back of strong demand for home office products and computer gaming devices.

Since then, many lockdowns have been lifted, while components and transportation costs have risen, eating into profit margins.

Meanwhile, the dollar has continued to rise in value, reducing the reported level of overseas sales, and consumer confidence has been fragile in the United States and falling in Europe.

Logitech, which cut its full year outlook in July, reaffirmed the guidance on Tuesday, expecting sales to fall by 4% to 8% in constant currencies and non-GAAP operating income of $650 million to $750 million.
