René Reif przestał kierować fabryką silników Mercedes-Benz w Berlinie i przeszedł do Tesli. Wywołało to niezadowolenie największego niemieckiego związku zawodowego, pisze amerykański Business Insider.

Przedstawiciele związku zawodowego IG Metall nazwali przejście Reifa do Tesli zdradą. Wezwali pracowników do protestu.

Tesla stock reached an all-time high Thursday, briefly trading at $507.76 per share.

The company’s stock has been on a tear since the S&P Dow Jones Indices announced this week that it will include the carmaker to the benchmark index prior to trading on Monday, Dec. 21. Money managers with funds that track the S&P 500 will need to buy the stock for their portfolios.

The stock is currently on track for its best week since the week ending Aug. 21, ahead of its 4-for-1 stock split on Aug. 31.

Morgan Stanley also upgraded Tesla to a buy-equivalent overweight rating Wednesday, the first time in years since the company put a buy rating on the stock, sending share prices up.

“Tesla is on the verge of a profound model shift from selling cars to generating high margin, recurring software and services revenue,” Morgan Stanley auto analyst Adam Jonas said in a note on Wednesday. The firm upped its price target to $540 from $360.

Tesla recently reported its fifth consecutive quarter of profit on third-quarter revenue of $8.77 billion. The company also reported that it delivered 139,300 vehicles during the third quarter, a new record for it.

The company’s stock is up more than 490% year to date.

Tesla defies doubters as builds on rally ahead of S&P 500 debut

(Reuters) - Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares rose 6% on Monday, approaching a $500 billion market value and extending gains to 27% since news a week ago that the electric car maker will debut in the S&P 500 in December, forcing index funds to buy billions of dollars of its stock.

Up about 500% in 2020, Tesla has become by far the world's most valuable automaker, despite production that is a fraction of Toyota, Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p) or General Motors (NYSE:GM).

Graphic: Tesla in the S&P 500: small profits in a big pond, https://graphics.reuters.com/USA-STOCKS ... /chart.png

Tesla is now five times more valuable than GM and Ford combined and the latest rise in the Silicon Valley automaker's shares came after Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives bumped his price target to $560 from $500.

While he maintained his neutral rating, Ives also said the stock could hit $1,000 in a "Bull Case", reflecting steeper demand for electric vehicles in coming years.

However, the median price target of analysts covering the stock is $385, about 26% below the $519 it hit on Monday, reflecting a belief among many on Wall Street that Tesla's shares have become overvalued.

Index funds trying to match the S&P 500's performance will have to buy more than $50 billion of Tesla's stock ahead of its inclusion on Dec. 21, and Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) estimated last week that actively managed mutual funds could buy another $8 billion.

Now worth $491 billion, Tesla is Wall Street's seventh most valuable company, just behind Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRKa) and just ahead of Visa (NYSE:V), Refinitiv data shows.

Wartość netto majątku Muska wzrosła do 127,9 mld USD.

Tesla wycofuje 9500 samochodów Model X i Model Y

Jak donosi Reuters, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) wycofuje ponad 9500 swoich pojazdów elektrycznych Model X i Model Y z powodu potencjalnie wadliwego wykończenia dachu i śrub, które mogą być niewłaściwie dokręcone. Zgodnie z dokumentacją amerykańskiego urzędu ds. bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) wycofanych zostanie m.in. 9136 samochodów Model X wyprodukowanych między 17 września 2015 r. a 31 lipca 2016 r.

Tesla Is Worth More Than Walmart

Tesla Inc.’s (NASDAQ: TSLA) market capitalization has raced by $500 billion, which made Elon Musk, its founder, the second richest man in America. In the process, the value of the company moved ahead of Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT), the largest retailer in the world. The news shows that either the electric car business will take over the auto industry soon or that traditional retail is dying faster than expected.

Tesla’s market cap stands at $526 billion. Its revenue in the third quarter was modest (by the standards of large global car companies) at $8.8 billion. Of this revenue, $7.6 billion was from auto operations. Tesla is also in the solar power business. Net income across the company was $331 million, and Tesla delivered 139,593 vehicles in the period.

For some sense of scale, note that Volkswagen sold almost 11 million cars worldwide last year, spread across all of its brands. Of course, VW’s revenue growth is in the low single-digit billions, and Tesla continues to post double-digit growth. However, it would take years for Tesla to match VW unit sales, even at its current growth pace.

Walmart has a $428 billion market cap. Its revenue in the most recent quarter was $134.7 billion, which was up by 6% year over year. Its e-commerce operations rose by 79%. Net income was $5.2 billion. Walmart ended the quarter with over 11,400 store locations.

The case against a bright future for Walmart is primarily that Amazon.com and other large e-commerce companies will chop away at its revenue as people move online to buy most of what Walmart sells in stores. Walmart does have, by many measures, the second-largest e-commerce operation in America. However, the company is burdened by 2 million employees worldwide and the cost of the operations of thousands of stores. In a nutshell, that is the argument against Walmart’s ability to stay profitable, or even hold its own in the broader world of retail.

Tesla’s market cap is based mostly on two arguments. The first is that fossil-fueled cars will soon begin to disappear around the world. The only alternative is electric-powered vehicles. Second, Tesla has to dominate this new world, with only modest competition for global sales from leaders like VW. Even with its balance sheet, its research and development and its product development, VW cannot catch Tesla in this market, this line of reasoning says.

Walmart’s fate will play out over several years, as its same-store sales numbers get posted quarter after quarter, along with its e-commerce numbers. Tesla, on the other hand, needs to sell over a million vehicles a year, quickly, or the doubts about its future will spread fast.

Tesla zajmuje przedostatnie miejsce w rankingu niezawodności magazynu Consumer Reports

It's Official: Tesla Model Y Gets Green Light For China Sales

FacebookTwitterLinkedInShare Licensing
ADELIA CELLINI LINECKER12:24 PM ET 11/30/2020
Chinese authorities have given Tesla (TSLA) the green light to sell its Model Y SUVs in China, according to Reuters. Tesla stock was little changed after initially rising to a new high. Meanwhile, Chinese EV maker Kandi Technologies (KNDI) dived on short-seller claims of fraud.

The approval, widely expected, includes the Model Y in the list of new energy vehicles exempt from vehicle purchase tax. In addition, authorities recommended the vehicle for the promotion and application of new energy vehicles this year. This means that Model Y owners will receive a tax exemption on the purchase.

Currently, Tesla sells its Model 3 electric cars in China. Recently, the U.S. electric-vehicle maker expanded manufacturing capacity at its Shanghai Giga factory to begin production of its Model Y SUVs. Tesla applied for the Shanghai-made Model Y SUV sales permission earlier this month.

Headed For The S&P 500, Tesla Stock Soars — But Competition Heats Up

Model Y Launch In 2021
The Model Y SUV will be the automaker's second model to come out of its Shanghai factory. The Shanghai factory is expected to roll out its first Model Y cars in early 2021. The Volkswagen ID.4 crossover will begin China deliveries early next year as well. Both will compete with the recently launched EC6 from China EV maker Nio (NIO).

Tesla began delivering Model 3 sedans made in its Shanghai factory last December. It sold more than 13,000 in China last month, picking up from September on another price cut.

Tesla Model 3 sales in China have been rangebound since May. In October, the company exported China-made Model 3 cars to Europe for the first time, partially replacing the Fremont, California, plant as the origin of Europe-sold Teslas.

Meanwhile, sales of Chinese electric-vehicle makers Nio, Xpeng Motors (XPEV), Li Auto (LI) and BYD (BYDDF) have boomed over the past several months. Nio is likely to report November sales later this week, with Xpeng, Li and BYD probably on tap over the next week or so.

Last week, Tesla said it plans to also start making electric-vehicle chargers in China in 2021.

Join IBD experts as they analyze actionable stocks in the stock market rally on IBD Live.

Tesla Stock
Tesla stock initially rose to a new high of 607.80, then retreated midmorning with the market. Shares recovered by early afternoon to trade roughly flat around 585 on the stock market today. On Nov. 18, Tesla stock broke out of a cup-with-handle base with a 466 buy point, according to MarketSmith chart analysis. The IBD Leaderboard stock is now well extended, as the 5% buy zone tops out at 489.30.

Tesla's relative strength line rose sharply over the past two weeks after news broke that the company will be added to the S&P 500 on Dec. 21.

Kandi Stock Sours On Fraud Claims
EV maker Kandi Technologies (KNDI) dropped 21%. In a report Monday, short seller Hindenburg Research accused China-based Kandi of a brazen scheme to falsify revenue by using fake sales to undisclosed affiliates. Hindenburg had previously released a hard-hitting report vs. U.S.-based electric-truck startup Nikola (NKLA).

Kandi has not yet responded to the charges.

Other Chinese EV stocks also fell, amid a broad-based retreat in many U.S.-listed China stocks. Nio stock declined nearly 5%, while Li Auto stock sank 7.5% and Xpeng stock nearly 10%. All three have had huge runs.

Tesla is now the largest automaker by market capitalization, with a value of around $555 billion. Toyota (TM) is No. 2 with a market cap of about $190 billion.

As the leader in the global EV market, Tesla has an 18% share, according to industry tracker Electrek, though it's coming down as startups and traditional automakers ramp up electric-car products. The next three automakers each have 6% share: Volkswagen (VWAGY), Warren Buffett-backed BYD Auto and BMW (BMWYY).

Tesla Stock Rises On S&P 500 Update, But Cybertruck Deliveries Pushed Back

FacebookTwitterLinkedInShare Licensing
ADELIA CELLINI LINECKER01:04 PM ET 12/01/2020
Tesla (TSLA) stock got another bump up after news that TSLA will be added to the S&P 500 index in one fell swoop on Dec. 21. Meanwhile, the electric car maker pushed back on its Cybertruck timeline, saying that deliveries won't start until early 2022.

S&P Dow Jones Indices officials said it consulted investors about how Tesla stock would be added to the index. The automaker has a market capitalization of more than $500 billion, making it the largest company ever to be added to the index.

S&P Dow Jones mulled adding Tesla stock in two tranches to ease integration. But the committee decided to add the stock all at once at its full float-adjusted market cap before the open of trading on Dec. 21. That means they will weight the company based only on shares available to the public.

"The fact the S&P Dow Jones Index Committee solicited feedback from the investment community about how to add the stock to the S&P 500 Index shows how unusual this situation is," said CFRA Research senior analyst Gerrett Nelson in a note.

In its decision, S&P DJI considered also Tesla's expected liquidity and the market's ability to accommodate significant trading volumes.

Tesla Stock Add Coincides With Expirations
"Adding the stock at the upcoming December quarterly rebalancing coincides with the expiration of stock options, stock futures, stock-index options and stock-index futures, which may help facilitate the funding trade," the index provider said in a news release.

Tesla's addition to the S&P 500 will be based on the closing prices of Friday, Dec. 18. The company that Tesla will replace will be named after the market closes on Dec. 11.

Tesla stock is on IBD Leaderboard and SwingTrader.

A Boon For Tesla Stock
Analyst Nelson says the move to the S&P 500 will spark a flurry of funding trades in Tesla Stock. Its inclusion means investment funds indexed to the S&P 500 will have to sell about $51 billion worth of shares of companies already in the S&P 500 and use that money to buy shares of Tesla, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. Tesla will account for about 1% of the index.

In addition, actively managed investment funds that try to beat the S&P 500 may buy more Tesla shares, too. Such funds manage trillions of dollars in assets.

"We expect TSLA shares to continue to get bid up over the next few weeks as funds are forced to add the stock, which we think will result in multiple expansion and a further widening of its cost of capital advantage relative to other automakers," Nelson said.

Tesla Cybertruck Delay
Tesla is pitching Cybertruck reservation holders on leasing another Tesla vehicle as the company tries to hit 500,000 deliveries.

Notably, Tesla explicitly said Cybertruck deliveries won't begin until early 2022, later than official targets for a late 2021 launch.

"The single motor configuration is currently scheduled to begin production in late 2022 with delivery projected to take place in early 2023," Tesla said in the email to Cybertruck reservation holders. "The dual and tri-motor configurations are currently scheduled to begin production in late 2021 with delivery projected to take place in early 2022."

Pitching 24-36 month leases to reservation holders is another indication of how long it might be before Cybertruck deliveries get going.

CEO Elon Musk had hinted that the Cybertruck wouldn't come until 2022 because it needs future battery improvements. Also, the electric still doesn't have a final, street-legal design. That might come in the next several weeks.

The Tesla Cybertruck will be made at a new plant outside Austin, Texas. That plant, due to be up and running in late 2021, will also make the Model Y and upcoming Tesla Semi. The long-touted Semi also may need future battery improvements.

Tesla Stock Analysis
Tesla stock rose nearly 5% soon after the open on the S&P 500 update. Shares were up 2.1% to about 579.50 in Tuesday afternoon stock market trading.

Tesla is trading around 578 and is well extended past a buy point of 466 from an awkward cup-with-handle base, according to MarketSmith chart analysis. The S&P 500 news fueled the Tesla breakout and the subsequent rally.

On Monday, Tesla stock set a record high at 607.80 before reversing lower.

Tesla stock is No. 1 in IBD's Auto Manufacturers group with a Composite Rating of 99. Its RS Rating is also a top-notch 99.

Analyst Nelson remains bullish on TSLA stock.

"The ongoing run-up means that TSLA's cost of capital advantage relative to peers continues to widen," he said. This is key because Tesla continues to build new factories and deliver on its goal of increasing annual auto volumes by 40 times over the next decade from about 500,000 units this year to 20 million by 2030, he added.
