Bank Morgan Stanley ogłosił, że w pierwszym kwartale miał stratę wynoszącą 644 mln USD związaną z „jednym z klientów”. Morgan Stanley zebrał ponad 3 mld USD na inwestycje w nieruchomości

Morgan Stanley stworzył nowy fundusz, który inwestuje na globalnym rynku nieruchomości. Zebrał 3,1 mld USD kapitału, czyli 400 mln USD więcej niż w 2018 roku, kiedy tworzył poprzedni fundusz.

Fundusz North Haven Real Estate Fund X Global, skrótowo nazywany G10, pozyskał kapitał m.in. od funduszy inwestycyjnych państw, międzynarodowych funduszy emerytalnych, ubezpieczycieli oraz bogatych inwestorów indywidualnych, powiedział John Klopp, szef działu nieruchomości w Morgan Stanley Investment Management.

Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) shares have edged lower premarket despite topping earnings and revenue expectations in the second quarter.

The bank reported earnings per share of $1.24, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $1.23, but down from $1.39 in the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter came in at $13.5 billion, up from $13.13 billion last year and beating the consensus estimate of $13.03 billion.

Morgan Stanley's revenue was boosted by record net revenues of $6.7B for its wealth management segment, which reflect higher net interest income and the positive impact of DCP. Net new client assets were $90B.

"The firm delivered solid results in a challenging market environment," commented James Gorman, the bank's chairman and chief executive officer. "The quarter started with macroeconomic uncertainties and subdued client activity, but ended with a more constructive tone."

UBS downgraded Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) to Neutral from Buy and cut its price target to $84.00 from $110.00, citing headwinds facing Wealth Management (WM) and Institutional Securities Group (ISG) businesses.

UBS anticipates challenges that make it harder to exceed Street estimates, and reduce its estimates by 11% for 2024 and 2025.

“Despite its successful transformation into a WM-focused firm with a solid, wirehouse peer leading growth profile, MS is confronted with obstacles such as deposit sorting/yield seeking, intense competition for talent, and a challenging revenue environment,” commented the analysts at UBS.

The firm highlighted the 43% year-over-year decline in WM sweep deposits in Q2/23, with an additional 7% decrease expected through the year-end. Although Morgan Stanley has navigated its strategic transition well, UBS believes its current pricing appears to be fair and is therefore adopting a neutral stance.
