Carrefour i Auchan nie połączą się

Francuskie sieci supermarketów Carrefour i Auchan zakończyły rozmowy o połączeniu i stworzeniu giganta generującego 110 mld EUR sprzedaży rocznie, informuje Reuters.

Agencja przypomina, że fuzja francuskich sieci supermarketów i stworzenie gracza posiadającego prawie 30 proc. rynku to pomysł szefa Carrefour Alexandre’a Bomparda.

W Polsce sieć zanotowała wzrost sprzedaży Like for Like (w porównywalnych sklepach) o 3 proc. w skali roku, co jest najlepszym wynikiem ze wszystkich krajów europejskich, gdzie działa francuski gigant. Do wzrostów, jakie notuje Biedronka, Carrefourowi nad Wisłą jednak daleko.

We Francji wskaźnik LfL wyniósł 1,8 proc., w Rumunii 2 proc., we Włoszech 3 proc., w Belgii -4,2 proc., a w Hiszpanii -0,4 proc. Wyniósł on 5,7 proc.

Dla porównania sprzedaż LfL w sieci dyskontów Biedronka będącej liderem handlu w Polsce wzrosła w 2021 r. o 8,3 proc.

Tradycyjnie, największe wzrosty sprzedaży Carrefour notował w Ameryce Południowej, szczególnie w Argentynie, gdzie wskaźnik LfL sięgnął poziomu aż 50 proc., co wynika m.in. z ogromnej inflacji.

Ponad 2,1 mld przychodów Carrefoura w Polsce
W 2021 r. przychody Carrefoura w Polsce wyniosły 2,1 mld euro. Zysk operacyjny całej grupy urósł o 13,3 proc. do poziomu 1,9 mld euro.

Capex firmy w 2021 roku wyniósł 1,6 mld euro. Dobre wyniki notowała również sprzedaż internetowa sieci. W kontekście całej grupy urosła ona w stosunku rocznym o 12 proc. do poziomu 3,3 mld euro.

PARIS (Reuters) -Europe's largest food retailer Carrefour (EPA:CARR) said on Wednesday it was confident about the second half of the year after reporting higher first-half operating profit and raising its 2022 cost-savings target amid accelerating inflation.

Carrefour said cash generation would remain above one billion euros in 2022, as it now aims for savings of one billion euros this year against 900 million euros previously, having achieved 480 million euros in the first half.

"There is no sign of inflation slowing down. We will have to deal with a high level of inflation in the second half and we will have to navigate it," Chairman and CEO Alexandre Bompard told analysts.

"We can consider the effect of inflation on customers will be higher than in the first half with a little bit more trading down," he added.

Finance Chief Matthieu Malige said the current market consensus for full year recurring operating profit seemed "consistent" with the first-half performance. Analysts cite a figure of 2.45 billion euros.

Carrefour reported a 1.6% rise in first-half recurring operating profit to 814 million euros at constant exchange rates.

The performance reflected cost cuts and first-half sales which grew 5.4% on a like-for-like basis to 43.42 billion euros, with Brazil, the group's second-largest market, driving growth.

"Carrefour continues its forward march and will present its new strategic plan on November 8, initiating its 2026 trajectory and reinforcing its long-term ambitions," Bompard said

Bompard, whom Carrefour reappointed in May 2021 to lead for another three years, is working on a new strategic plan and conducting an asset review as part of the process.

The new strategy will notably allow the French retailer to step up digital expansion and be more resilient amid an increasingly uncertain environment, Bompard has said.

During the second quarter, Carrefour said it observed a "slight evolution" in consumer purchasing behaviour, particularly in European countries where inflation is the most pronounced such as Spain and Romania, reflecting "growing consumer attention to purchasing power constraints."

The extra savings Carrefour will generate this year will help it protect the purchasing power of customers while consolidating its economic model, the group said.

It can notably rely on its Carrefour branded products, which now account for 32% of sales, promotional activities and loyalty programmes.

In the core French market, sales rose 1.4% like-for-like in the second quarter alone, with closely watched hypermarkets benefitting from their attractiveness in terms of offers, prices and promotions. Convenience stores were particularly dynamic, driven by a resumption of tourism in big cities.

French retailer Carrefour to freeze prices on 100 products to tackle inflation

PARIS (Reuters) - French supermarket retailer Carrefour (EPA:CARR) said it would freeze the prices on 100 of its products, in order to help French people tackle soaring inflation in the country.

Carrefour's move follows that of other leading French companies which have also taken steps to help the country's consumers deal with the record inflation, following pressure from President Emmanuel Macron's government.

In July, French oil major TotalEnergies and shipping giant CMA CGM announced further steps to cut prices. TotalEnergies said it would reduce fuel prices at its service station across France from Sept. 1 until the end of the year, while CMA CGM said it would cut shipping fees by 750 euros per container for imports to France from Asia.

Carrefour said it would be freezing prices until Nov. 30 on a variety of products, ranging from food items to healthcare products and clothing.

Data published earlier this month showed that French inflation stood at a record level of 6.8% in July.

Inflation has surged across the world following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which has driven up energy prices.

SAO PAULO (Reuters) - Carrefour (EPA:CARR) Brasil reported on Monday its fourth-quarter adjusted net profit decreased 28.2% from a year earlier to 550 million reais ($106.19 million), hit by a double digit increase in expenses.

The Brazilian arm of French retailer Carrefour SA (OTC:CRRFY) said net sales rose 36.3% to 28.16 billion reais, partly lifted following its acquisition of food retailer Grupo BIG.

Carrefour Brasil's Atacadao unit posted 22.6% growth in net sales.

Operating expenses were 4.15 billion reais, a 64.9% rise from a year earlier, fueled by an "expected" increase in expenses related to Grupo BIG's integration and the acceleration of store conversions, as well as high interest rates.

Stores conversion impacted profit, the firm's chief financial officer David Murciano said, adding the company will see growth in sales once all the stores are completely converted.

Meanwhile, adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew 12.4% to 1.974 billion reais. Excluding Grupo BIG, the company posted 17.6% growth in its adjusted EBITDA to 2.07 billion reais.

Carrefour Brasil said it has opened six new wholesale format stores. The firm said 52 stores from Grupo BIG were converted to Carrefour's brand in the fourth-quarter.

PARIS (Reuters) - French retailer Carrefour (EPA:CARR) on Tuesday said it plans to open about 100 more stores in Israel between now and the end of 2024, having just opened 50 stores in the country.

The 50 stores were opened under a franchise partnership Carrefour entered into in March 2022 with the Israeli group Electra Consumer Products and its subsidiary Yenot Bitan, the statement said.

Carrefour's stores in Israel include three hypermarkets, 10 supermarkets and 37 convenience stores, including nine stores in Tel Aviv. It is also setting up an e-commerce site so customers can shop online.

Carrefour zamyka sklepy w Polsce
