Sprzedaż największego, elektrycznego SUV-a Mercedesa rusza. Cena trochę mnie wzrusza

Nazywa się Mercedes EQS SUV. Podziwiam to nawiązanie do nazwy elektronicznych papierosów i tę subtelną metaforę o rzuceniu palenia, a jeszcze bardziej podziwiam cenę.

Mercedes EQS SUV – cena to 590 800 zł

A skoro o luksusie mowa…

Mercedes Benz becomes first partner of CATL's new Hungary battery plant

BERLIN (Reuters) -Mercedes-Benz is the first carmaker to receive cells from a new 7.34 billion euro ($7.56 billion) battery factory China's CATL plans to build in Hungary, it said on Friday, adding this marked the highest initial order volume for the site.

Mercedes-Benz said the agreement marked the next milestone towards its goal of reaching battery production capacity of more than 200 gigawatt hours (GWh) at eight global production sites by the end of the decade.

The plant, announced by China's Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) earlier on Friday, would provide battery cells for the next generation Mercedes-Benz models.

"With CATL we have a technology-leader as our partner to provide us – as the first and biggest customer of the new plant's initial capacity – with top-notch CO2 neutral battery cells for our next generation EVs in Europe," Mercedes-Benz management board member Markus Schaefer said.

Mercedes-Benz works council asks for record bonus for employees

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The Mercedes-Benz works council expects the German car manufacturer to dole out a record-high bonus to its employees while anticipating bumper profits for the financial year, the works council chief said in an interview published on Friday.

"So far, annual profit-sharing has been limited to a maximum of 6,450 euros ($6,617). This cap should be abolished," Ergun Luemali told Reuters.

"We need a new calculation formula so that the workforce can now share in the increased profit if the return is kept at a significantly higher level," he said.

Last year, Mercedes paid 6,000 euros to 100,000 of its employees, compared to 3,000 euros for Volkswagen (ETR:VOWG_p) workers and up to 9,000 euros for BMW workers.

According to analyst forecasts, Mercedes-Benz's operating profit will increase by almost a fifth, to 19 billion euros, in 2022.

Mercedes-Benz raised its full-year profit forecast last month as strong demand for luxury cars and cost savings offset the supply chain bottlenecks that have hampered industry output this year.

Daimler Truck warns supply chain troubles not over as Q3 unit sales jump.

BERLIN (Reuters) -Daimler Truck reported a 27% jump in third-quarter unit sales to nearly 135,000 on Friday as the chip shortage eased, but warned underinvestment in other parts of the supply chain was still causing shortages of everything from nuts and bolts to tyres.

"Overall the supply chain is somehow broken," Chief Financial Officer Jochen Goetz told analysts. "The market picked up super quickly .... The investments not taken a few years back mean some smaller suppliers are not able to ramp up as fast as we need to."

Of the around 25 types of chips Daimler (OTC:DDAIF) Truck needed which were in short supply, some were now back in the market while for others the company had found alternatives, Goetz said. However, some would remain hard to get throughout 2023.

Still, it is not just chips that are the problem: "It's everything," the CFO explained, "from electric parts to tyres, nuts and bolts... and this will continue as long as we see super strong demand."

The company, which was spun off from Mercedes-Benz last year, raised its outlook in October for full-year revenues to 50 billion to 52 billion euros ($51 billion to $53 billion) from 48 billion to 50 billion euros and said it expected earnings to be 5% to 15% above last year's level rather than unchanged, as previously forecast.

The jump in earnings was highest in Europe at 316% from the same quarter last year, compared with 111% in North America, traditionally Daimler Truck's strongest market.

Hitting the truck and bus maker's target of reducing fixed costs 15% from 2019 levels by 2025 was more challenging in today's inflationary environment, Goetz said.

Incoming orders were down 18% on a year before in the three months ended Sept. 30, and down 14% this year so far, a statement showed.

The company was restricting its acceptance of orders in Europe next year to have some room to pick and choose which orders were best for margins, Goetz said, but in the United States books were open for the full year.

Higher pricing, favourable exchange rate effects and a strong after-sale business pushed revenues up 47% and adjusted earnings before interest and taxes up 159%, Friday's statement showed, confirming results released in an ad-hoc statement in late October.

In Asia, however, where a depressed Chinese market prompted the company to lower its regional adjusted earnings margin last quarter to 1% to 3% from 3% to 5%, earnings fell 63% even as revenues and unit sales increased.

This was partly due to restrictions in Japan on increasing prices on existing orders, Goetz said.

Sales of Daimler Buses, which did not grow at all in 2021, are up 18% this year so far and the company expects the coach market to bounce back in 2023.

BERLIN (Reuters) -Mercedes-Benz is set to drop the EQ product brand for battery-electric cars as soon as the next generation of compact cars, set to be on the market from the end of 2024, German daily Handelsblatt said on Thursday, citing company sources.

The decision is based on Chief Executive Ola Kaellenius' focus on electric-only cars, making the EQ brand redundant as Mercedes turns away from the combustion engine, Handelsblatt cited the sources as saying.

The German carmaker now markets its all-electric model series under the EQ brand, first announced in 2016, with its first model, the EQC electric SUV, launched in 2019.

A spokesperson for Mercedes' EQ products said the brand is an important pillar in the carmaker's electromobility strategy.

"With the goal of our parent brand Mercedes-Benz becoming fully electric by the end of the decade, we will adapt the positioning of the vehicles and thus also the use of the brand in line with the times, but it is too early for details on this at the moment," said the spokesperson.

Electric car demand boosts Mercedes-Benz to fourth quarter profit beat

Investing.com -- Mercedes-Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) reported better-than-expected income in the fourth quarter, thanks to a spike in electric vehicle sales that helped offset weakness at its financing business stemming from elevated borrowing costs.

In the final three months of 2022, the Germany-based automaker posted earnings before interest and taxes of €5.4B, an increase of nearly a third compared to the same period in the prior year. Bloomberg consensus estimates had placed the figure at €4.5B.

Despite flagging a "challenging" macroeconomic environment and geopolitical concerns, Mercedes-Benz sold 2.04 million passenger cars over the quarter, leading to core profit for the division of €4.24B that was higher than anticipated. Partly driving this uptick was strong demand for electric vehicles, a key pillar of the company's long-term strategy, with sales of these units surging by 67%.

Shares in the group rose in early European trading on Friday.

Van sales also grew by 8% worldwide, but were weighed down by supply chain constraints and logistics issues, Mercedes-Benz said. But returns at Mercedes-Benz's financing and leasing arm dropped by 44%, as higher interest rates and a subdued economic outlook led to a jump in cost of credit risk. Volumes were lower as well following the spin-off of the Daimler Truck unit in December 2021.

"We have redesigned Mercedes-Benz to be a more profitable company thanks to our focus on desirable products and disciplined margin and cost management. We cannot control macro or world events, but 2022 is a case in point that we are moving in the right direction," said chief executive officer Ola Källenius in a statement.

The company added that it would launch a share buyback program worth up to €4B, stripping away incidental costs, that will last for up to the next two years. For 2022, a dividend of €5.20 per share was set, translating to a payout of €5.6B.

However, Mercedes-Benz warned that core earnings will be slightly below the prior-year level in 2023, while annual revenue would remain unchanged, as headwinds linger from the war in Ukraine, raw material costs, and possible supply chain disruptions.

"In addition, continued inflationary pressure for consumers and companies and the associated central bank increases in interest rates, as well as a more pronounced growth slowdown in the economy, make the outlook more difficult," it said.

Meanwhile, first quarter trading in China - the world's largest auto market - was impacted by spill-over effects from an uptick in COVID-19 cases following the country's sudden move away from pandemic-era restrictions late last year. Orders in Europe have also been "sluggish," Mercedes-Benz noted.

Mercedes-Benz begins building battery recycling factory in southern Germany

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Mercedes-Benz laid the foundation stone for a sustainable battery recycling factory in Kuppenheim, southern Germany on Friday.

The pilot plant will have an annual capacity of 2500 tonnes and will contribute to the production of more than 50,000 battery modules for new electric Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Recycled batteries will come from test vehicles and start-up batteries. Based on the pilot's success, production volumes could be scaled up in the medium to long term.

Commissioning for the first stage of the plant - mechanical dismantling - is scheduled to begin in December this year. Subject to talks with the public sector, the pilot factory will be completed a few months later.

The Kuppenheim plant already runs a CO2-neutral operation with solar and green electricity. Its construction is being funded as part of a scientific research project by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.

"We are sending an important signal of innovative strength in Baden-Württemberg and Germany for sustainable electromobility," said Jörg Burzer, management board member of Mercedes-Benz in production and supply chain management.

Thekla Walker, minister for the environment, climate and energy in Baden-Württemberg, said she was pleased that Mercedes-Benz was promoting the topic of the circular economy.

"This is of particular importance in view of the limited availability of important raw materials that are in high demand, such as lithium, cobalt and nickel," she said.

Obrazek

Szef Mercedesa zapowiadał szybkie i radykalne decyzje.
