PulteGroup (PHM) narrowly topped fourth-quarter results, kicking off earnings from several homebuilders this week.

Estimates: EPS was expected to rise to 84 cents a share, with revenue climbing to $2.788 billion up 25% vs. a year earlier, according to Zacks Investment Research.

Results: PulteGroup earned 85 cents a share with revenue rising to $2.794 billion. New orders rose 14% to 4,805 homes and by 22% to $2 billion.

PulteGroup also announced a $500 million stock buyback program. It'll be added to its existing plan, which has $94 million remaining.
