Salesforce (CRM - Get Report) reports its latest earnings soon. Can the stock continue its upward climb this year?

Ahead of its quarterly results on June 4, analysts polled by FactSet anticipate earnings of 61 cents per share and are largely bullish on the stock: Out of 31 ratings in FactSet, 27 rate it a "buy."

As is often the case with Salesforce's earnings, investors will likely hone in on billings as an indicator of how the company's own sales could grow over the next several quarters.

"I think what investors need to focus on is billings and just visibility into their 20% compound annual growth on the top line that they expect to do for the next couple of years," explained AAP portfolio analyst Jeff Marks. "And if they can produce good billings results and really show that, give the market confidence that they can do that."

Salesforce has a history of guiding conservatively and frequently topping forecasts. In its last earnings report, it guided for revenue of $3.67 billion to $3.68 billion.

In 2019, the company has been busily rolling out new capabilities for its core cloud and analytics products. It's also been leveraging its success to influence social and corporate behavior, recently barring retailers who sell certain kinds of firearms from using its customer management software.

Shares of Salesforce fell 2.73% on Friday but are up 15% year to date.

Salesforce Earnings Guidance Light, Stock Falls; Zoom Stake Boosts Profit

Salesforce.com (CRM) earnings for the first quarter edged by estimates as the company recorded a huge investment gain from its stake in Zoom Video Communications (ZM). Amid the Covid-19 emergency, Salesforce earnings guidance came in below expectations, sending shares down in extended trading on Thursday.

San Francisco-based Salesforce said adjusted earnings were 70 cents a share, including a 16-cent investment gain, down 25% from a year earlier. Revenue climbed 30% to $4.87 billion, including the acquisition of Tableau Software.

The enterprise software maker said current remaining performance obligations, or CRPO bookings, rose 23% to $14.5 billion. That topped analyst estimates of $14.46 billion.

CRPO bookings are an aggregate of deferred revenue and order backlog. The Salesforce CRPO growth included acquisitions.

Salesforce: Wzrost kursu i awans do indeksu Dow Jones

Przychody dostawcy usług w chmurze w II kwartale przebiły oczekiwania ekspertów o 200 mln dolarów i osiągnęły pułap niemal 5,2 mld USD, wynik o 29 proc. lepszy od analogicznego okresu ubiegłego roku.

Dodatkowo spółka postanowiła podwyższyć swoje prognozy dotyczące przychodów w III kw. do niemal 5,3 mld dolarów. W 2021 roku obrotowym Salesforce zamierza osiągnąć przychody na poziomie 20,8 mld USD.

Spółka dostarcza rozwiązania mające ułatwić kontakt firmom z ich klientami, dzięki czemu te mogą prowadzić skuteczniejsze kampanie marketingowe. Z usług Salesforce korzystają giganci technologiczni i telekomunikacyjni, jak m.in. Pay Pal oraz AT&T.

GSU

Okiem analityka
Konrad Ryczko analityk, DM BOŚ

Amerykańska firma programistyczna została niedawno włączona do prestiżowego indeksu Dow Jones Industrial. Ostatnie podbicie kursu Salesforce (ticker #CRM, a więc w globalnym rozwinięciu customer relationship management) nie wynikało jednak jedynie z awansu do DJI.

Microsoft vs. Salesforce.com: Which SaaS Stock is a Better Investment?

https://www.investing.com/news/stock-ma ... nt-2613483

The Winner

The SaaS market is expanding rapidly owing to the growing demand for cloud-based solutions. While both MSFT and CRM dominate the industry, its higher profit margins and solid growth prospects we think make MSFT the better bet now.
