The company's January-March bottom line fell into the red for the first time since 2002. The latest net loss stemmed from upfront investment in its mobile phone business, which was fully launched last month.

Tokyo, Dec. 25 (Jiji Press)--Japanese online shopping mall operator Rakuten Inc. <4755> said Friday that a computer security problem at the group exposed 1,486,291 sets of personal and corporate information to access from the outside.
Of the affected data, managed by Rakuten, credit card subsidiary Rakuten Card Co. and e-money business Rakuten Edy Inc., at least 614 sets were accessed from abroad.

Japan Post to Acquire Stake in Rakuten

Tokyo, March 12 (Jiji Press)--Japan Post Holdings Co. <6178> and Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten Inc. <4755> said Friday that they have agreed on a capital and business alliance, with the former acquiring an 8.32 pct equity stake in the latter at a cost of some 150 billion yen.
For the capital partnership, Rakuten will issue new shares to Japan Post Holdings under a third-party allotment scheme.

Japan Post, Rakuten to Set Up Logistics Biz in July
Tokyo, April 29 (Jiji Press)--Japan Post Holdings Co. <6178> and cybermall operator Rakuten Group Inc. <4755> have said they will jointly set up a logistics business in July for efficient distribution operations using artificial intelligence.
Rakuten's distribution operations will be transferred to the new company, JP Rakuten Logistics Inc., which will work with the huge distribution network of Japan Post Co., the mail and parcel delivery arm of Japan Post Holdings, according to their announcement Wednesday.
