Tokyo, June 30 (Jiji Press)--Major trader Mitsubishi Corp. <8058> said Tuesday that it and an energy unit of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. <9432> have agreed to team up in electricity generation and supply business using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.
Mitsubishi and NTT Anode Energy Corp. will consider jointly investing in power generation projects both in Japan and overseas, and supplying electricity using NTT communication buildings.

TOKYO — NTT Docomo Inc., Japan’s top cellphone service provider, said it planned to return to 100% control by its parent, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp., in a deal expected to cost the parent nearly $40 billion.

The parent NTT owned 66.2% of Docomo’s voting rights as of March 31. Docomo said Tuesday that NTT planned to take 100% control. It said its board would vote on the plan later in the day. The Nikkei newspaper and other Japanese media earlier reported the plan.

Publicly traded Docomo shares were collectively valued at nearly $30 billion as of the close of Monday’s trading. Assuming NTT pays a premium to acquire all the shares, it could spend close to $40 billion.

Shares of the parent NTT 9432, -0.69% were down about 3% in morning trading in Tokyo. Docomo shares 9437, +18.45% weren’t trading yet because of a flood of buy orders. The deal would end a 22-year experiment that began when fixed-line telephone service was still the NTT conglomerate’s core business and mobile phones were owned by relatively few people.

NTT Posts Higher Operating Profit in 1st Half
Tokyo, Nov. 7 (Jiji Press)--Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. <9432> said Friday its operating profit rose steadily in April-September thanks to strength of noncommunications businesses.
The company said its consolidated operating profit grew 2.6 pct in the fiscal first half from a year earlier to 1,008,580 million yen on a brisk performance of subsidiary NTT Docomo Inc.'s <9437> mobile payment service.

Tokyo, Nov. 13 (Jiji Press)--Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. <9432> is planning to issue corporate bonds worth over 500 billion yen in Japan, it was learned Friday.
In what is likely to be the biggest domestic bond issuance, NTT hopes to raise funds to repay loans taken out from financial institutions to gain full control of subsidiary NTT Docomo Inc. <9437>, informed sources said.

Tokyo, April 24 (Jiji Press)--Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. <9432> and Fujitsu Ltd. <6702> will form a partnership on the development of 6G next-generation communication platforms, informed sources said Saturday.
NTT President Jun Sawada and Fujitsu President Takahito Tokita are expected to hold a press conference as early as Monday to announce the partnership.

NTT to Issue Green Bonds worth 300 B. Yen
Tokyo, Oct. 6 (Jiji Press)--Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. <9432> has said it will issue some 300 billion yen's worth of so-called green bonds, which are dedicated to financing environmental measures, through subsidiary NTT Finance Corp. later this month.
It will be one of the world's largest one-time issuances of such bonds by a business company, according to NTT.

Tokyo, Oct. 19 (Jiji Press)--Japan's communications ministry has judged mobile phone carrier NTT Docomo Inc.'s nationwide service disruption last week to be a "serious incident" under the telecommunications business law, it was learned Tuesday.
The ministry expects to receive a report from NTT Docomo on the details of the incident, such as the cause and scale, by Nov. 13. Based on the report, the ministry will consider whether to issue administrative guidance to NTT Docomo, informed sources said.

NTT Unit, Dai Nippon Printing to Launch Esports League
Tokyo, March 23 (Jiji Press)--NTTe-Sports, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corp., and Dai Nippon Printing Co. <7912> will launch an esports league for working people in May.
The establishment of the league is intended to facilitate business people's participation in esports and help expand the scope of esports players, many of whom are professional players and high school students at present, the two companies said Tuesday.

The move by the Japanese wireless carrier comes as the number of visitors to its mobile phone shops has dropped some 30 pct due to solid demand for its "ahamo" low-cost smartphone plan whose subscriptions are accepted only online.
